Ezhi&aka'a Terrible Mother is their most outlandish development to date.
It uses a Russian Dice randomizer engine to juggle between five separate signals – four uniquely voiced delay engines and your clean signal.
Russian Dice randomizer can be controlled directly by your signal for ring mod -ish sounds, by a randomized lfo partly controlled by the input signal or a simple tap tempo circuit.
Scanning through four delayed versions of the input signal produces choppy rhythmic patterns, unpredictable and controllable at the same time. Well that is if you spend some time with Terrible Mother and learn her habits.
This pedal is as experimental as it gets, even to my unhealthy standards, so make sure you need some total madness in your setup if you want to order it.
Got this a few weeks ago and it’s been keeping me occupied and fascinated since. By far my weirdest pedal, but as such also strangely compelling. It’s a bit difficult to describe, but imagine a mix of dry signal with a randomizer engine switching between four individually controlled delays. This creates rhythmic, stuttering textures and patterns, sometimes following your playing and sometimes seemingly expressing a mind of it’s own. There’s ring-modish sounds, glitchy sequencers, degraded tape, radio-like static and smeared, repeated fragments. It can be very musical, and after a small knob adjustment become wildly unpredictable. Definitely not for everybody, but there’s great fun to be had balancing on the line between strange rhythm generation and chaos. The graphic design is also unique in it’s strange and slightly harsh beauty.

The Terrible Mother covers a lot of ground. It can be very glitchy, or turned down into a slower delay that will jump to a new mode sometimes, depending on your playing. It chops up the signal in wonderful ways, hitting beautiful unpredictable, or rhythmic repeats. I mean, it all depends on the settings which open up a whole world to explore. Fantastic stuff again from Ezhi and Aka!
All ezhi & aka pedals are beautiful pieces that can add mystery and majesty to whatever it is your are playing through it. Terrible Mother would be at the top of that list. You don't so much as play it as it creates something with you. I'll uy anything from this creator. Wonderful pedals. Highly recommended if you are of the experimental or noise related mind.

Stunning, unpredictable, temperamental and yet addictive pedal. Just when you think you've cracked the secrets, it does something unexpected. Not for everyone but a much needed stomp for those who like this kind of experience.
