Bit Crushing Digital Annihilation
Experience the future of sound manipulation with Zenith And Vales. Leave behind traditional silicon and germanium transistors and dive into the world of digital destruction, where binary code is transformed and distorted beyond recognition.
Zenith And Vales has two algorithm modes that alternate between jagged, uneven distorted sounds that are mangled beyond recognition. Additionally, two aliasing modes toggle between light undersampling and heavily pixelated artifacts.
Zenith And Vales distinguishes itself from other fuzz pedals by generating sharp, cutting textures and dramatic, exaggerated soundscapes. It is an essential sound-shaping tool, enabling you to create one-of-a-kind sounds and textures.
Just like a fraternal twin, Zenith and Wales has the same DNA as the Ottobit Jr and while much of the functionality is identical a few things have been added and a few things are missing. As a big fan of the Ottobit I was thrilled to see sample rate and bit reduction knobs featured prominently on the Zenith and Vales. The Ottobit 's filter knob has been functionally replaced and improved upon by the Z&V's bias knob (an additional switch can be flipped to essentially double the role of the bias knob). Where the Ottobit offers "stutter" Z&V offers "warble" and in my opinion the former is preferable to the latter. I don't use the stutter function all that much though so Z&V doesn't lose any points for that in my book. The reason Z&V only got 4 stars is that it lacks the expression pedal and stereo functionality that I really wish it had. In spite of that, I will not be selling the Z&V and intend to use it in addition to the Ottibit for the reality blurring sounds offered by the bias knob. Unlike the filter knob on the Ottobit the bias knob on the Z&V doesn't transport you back to an '80s video arcade. Rather it provides more of a sense of disorientation that would feel at home on an Aphex Twin track, dark indie hip-hop, or soundtrack work. All in all a great pedal that could be greater If you could manipulate the bias with an expression pedal.
If you’re into experimental, aggressive, or otherworldly tones, this pedal is an instant classic. Highly recommended!
