Enter the slow gear sg-1 from boss's vintage, made in Japan catalog. Introduced in 1979, the slow gear is a filter designed to be an automatic volume/swell pedal. The slow gear circuit cuts your signal’s attack to a threshold set by the ‘sensitivity’ knob, the sound then increases in volume at a speed set by the ‘attack’ knob. Yesterday Effects has furthered the function of the slow gear by adding a three position toggle that sets three different modes of attack length. the modes are as follows: standard attack (middle position), longer attack (up position), even longer attack (down position). we have also sourced Toshiba ta7504p ic chips- the same chip the originals use!

A compressor or overdrive can be used before the sg‑1 to even out input signal level for more consistent operation. Additionally, a delay after the sg‑1 can help to create unusual bowed, organ‑like or backwards‑style sounds.
