First your signal is fuzzed up, then split into parallel low pass, and band pass filters. The frequency of the band pass filter is then modulated by a staircase shaped waveform, whose speed is controlled by the predominant frequency of whatever you’re feeding into the pedal.
Lower notes are slower, higher notes are faster.
