The Photo Modulator utilizes a passive resistor circuit, enabling light to control nearly any expression pedal-compatible device. For the widest range of expression use the Photo Modulator in a dark room and adjust the control with a bright light source.
The photoresistor is connected between the tip and the ring of the jack, with its resistance varying from less than 1kohm in bright light to over 1 Mega ohm in total darkness. A 47 ohm resistor connects the tip to the ground and this resistor and the photo resistor simulate the behavior of a real expression pedal for use with all kinds of guitar effects.
