Phase 50 Million is an all-analog phaser that will have you seeing shapes you didn't know existed. With up to 8 stages of phase madness and two interacting LFOs colliding, it creates patterns and textures you'll have to hear to believe. Some of the most colorful, gooey phaser sounds you'll ever come across. Inside its controls you'll find phaser (of course), chorus, ring modulation, tape warble, and more. Warp, detune, sweep, stun, shatter, destroy. Dreamy or dangerous. And all with the ability to blend the insanity in just as much or as little as you want.
BLEND - Blends between a wet (full clockwise) and dry (full counter clockwise). This allows you to get a super deep effect and only blend it in to taste.
CENTER - Moves the center frequency that the phaser sweeps up and down from. Lower frequencies are to the left and higher frequencies are to the right. If neither LFO is blended in, you can move the signal out of phase and freeze it there with the Center knob.
RES - Feeds the signal back into itself creating a resonant peak at the phased frequencies. Turn to the right for more resonance/feedback.
DETUNE - Turn to the right to blend out the unphased signal entirely, giving you a seasick pitchbending vibrato. Play around with combinations of the LFOs to get ring modulator-like sounds. The amount of pitch bend is set by the depth of the LFOs. Most obvious with RES at low settings.
DEPTH ONE - Depth of the first LFO, turn to the right to increase. The depthon LFO one can get incredibly deep. For more normal, smooth phaser sounds, keep below 12 o’clock.
RATE ONE - Rate of the first LFO, turn to the right to increase. Indicated by LED on the left.
WAVE ONE - The shape of LFO one. Sine, especially at lower settings for Depth One, will give the most traditional phaser sounds. Sample and hold and random slopes can give strange tape warp effects. Note - LFO two is set permanently to sine.
Wave forms:
• up ramp
• down ramp
• square
• triangle
• sine
• scoop
• sample and hold
• random slopes
DEPTH TWO - Depth of the second LFO, turn to the right to increase. Less intense than Depth One. If you only want one or the other LFO, turn the depth of the other all the way off. The idea is to combine them in non-matching ways.
RATE TWO - Rate of the second LFO, turn to the right to increase.
TAP TEMPO - The stomp switch on the left. Tap rhythmically to set the rate of LFO one. Note: Tap Tempo does not affect LFO two.
STAGES - 8 stages to the left, 4 to the right. 8 stages gives a much more intense, almost vocal phasing sound, while 4 is mellower and more subtle.
EXP - Plug in an expression pedal (Moog EP3 or Roland EV5 are my faves) to sweep the center frequency with your foot manually. Can interact with LFOs or be used with the LFOs turned off.
