Korg ms-20 Filter
In 1978 Korg released a groundbreaking synthesizer that would later go on to become legendary, the Korg ms-20. People often regard a synth's filter section to be the heart of its sound; the filter section of a synth defines the instrument's character and determines how it stands out from other synths. Korg was beyond successful in creating a unique, stand out filter for the ms-20 and its smaller sibling, the ms-10. Fast forward to the 1990s and we find that artists were using the ms-20 strictly to process external sounds through its filter.
This is a recreation of the later ota based filter section; ota based filters are often characterized as having a smoother sound with more controllable distortion and lower overall noise. This simple, yet powerful filter has proven to be good enough for some of the most celebrated artists in history. Is it good enough for you?
