Empty Head Effects King Alex 2 stuck an op amp drive in front of a silicon transistor drive and totally overwhelmed the poor transistor circuit. It sounds beautiful, up to a point, then it just destroys itself, beautifully.
- A One Knob Drive that became Two Knobs + Two Toggles
- True Bypass
- 2 Knobs - Gain + Volume
- 2 Toggle - Op-amp pre-gain bypass + Hi/lo gain pre-gain
- Based around a classic Distortion circuit w/modifications
- A selectable Op-amp drive pre amp
- Runs from a Warm Drive to an all out Assault on the Senses
- Using Silicon Transistors similar to that of Big Muffs
- Asymmetrical Clipping Diodes incl. 2N4124 silicon and Yellow LED
Okay I bought this expecting it to be more like the blown tube βboomβ footswitch on the SSBS Fuck. Itβs not like that at all. Kinda reminds me of a different flavor of something Neil Young style blown out sagging on the extreme end - see Mask Audio Part Garden, Audio Cultivation Fourth, or OAM VB-2 for things that are closer to this. Very good still even if not what I was expecting. It looks really cool, dig the purple knobs. On low gain it adds just a little bit of something extra but I like it fully switched on and blown out.
If youβre looking for versatility spanning from subtle and touchy all the way to full experimental chaos, youβve found it. At low settings thereβs a splash of color that sounds excellent and textural. Higher settings get muff-y. Flip on the op-amp and things can get insane in ways that are hard to describe, but may be your rigβs new party trick.
