Lofi Chorus, Delay, Vibrato

Intensive Care Audio's "Fideleater" is a lo-fi chorus/vibrato/delay pedal for the treatment of Bland Guitar Syndrome and Excessive Aural Dryness. Used regularly it can provide effective relief from these, and other music and instrumentation related conditions.

Wave Function: An 8 position rotary switch allows you to select 1 of 8 available LFO waveforms. From left to right these are;

Random Slopes: Random Steps, Sweep, Sine, Triangle, Square, Ramp Down, Ramp Up.

Depth: Sets the depth of the LFO. In certain settings, having the depth control above 12 o’clock can cause serious glitching, this is normal and you should continue with the course of treatment.

Freq: Sets the frequency (speed) of the LFO. The speed (and waveform) of the LFO is indicated by the LED underneath the FREQ control.

Dry/Wet: Sets the amount of dry signal which is mixed in. With the control fully CCW the pedal operates as a chorus. Turning this control CW gradually removes the dry signal and you are left with just the modulated signal, creating a vibrato effect.

Contract: The contract switch opens or closes a feedback path within the delay path. When open, the repeats create a luscious warbling.

Untie: The untie switch extends the delay time so that the pedal operates something more like a delay than a chorus. The modulation is intensified because of this and creates another world of glitchy digital weirdness.

This is not your grandfather's chorus

I love a good chorus pedal and have owned at least 8 across the range from the classics to more modern.
The Fideleater is it's own special beast. It can do a beautiful standard, analog chorus. It can be subtle or lush in the ways you know chorus.

But this pedal is so much more. I enjoy using the random waveform at subtle levels of chorus or vibrato to get an almost warped tape style to my guitar. Similar to what the Walrus Juliana can do. The other waveforms are something to experiment with and can probably find 'that sound' you had in your head.

I love the untie switch. It completely changes the paradigm of the pedal. It causes an unexpected explosion of modulation glitches at the higher levels and you can get twinkling bursts similar to the EQD Rainbow machine when stomping it on and off at the right times. Turning up the depth and frequency can get self oscillating chaos with a touch of delay/repeating to it all.

All in all it's a mad pedal and I think playing with it yourself is the only way to discover the musical madness it can produce.
I can't fault it but would enjoy a version with presets; however that would take a lot of effort to achieve. Stereo would be interesting too.

Killer Chorus that gets wild around the edges

I love that I can use this as a workhorse for my primary chorus pedal but also get into weird and wild territory when I want to explore. The aesthetics are top notch, as is the build quality. I enjoy looking at this thing just as much as I do listening to it,

    Best modulation pedal

Nothing like it on the market as far as I know. Great variation of sounds without being complicated. This pedal goes from classic chorus and vibrato to crazy out of this world detached from reality sound mangle.

    Intensive Care Audio Fideleater

From mild to wild, and everything in between. This is not your average chorus/delay/modulation pedal, and geared more towards the sonic explorer and sound sculptor. Expect the unexpected when diving in- the frequency and depth controls offer an array of sounds, and things really unravel with the contract and untie switches. If you're looking for exact digital repeats, this might not be for you. BUT, if you're looking for something that can provide otherworldly sounds that percolate into a sludgy mess, this could be for you! I've found it to be perfect for my needs, and I haven't even scratched the surface of what this thing can do. I have had to keep the wet/dry control pretty low because things can get out of hand pretty easy, even with a low mix level. Each pedal by Intensive Care Audio features great design and high quality construction.
